r.i.p. | dan asher

thoughts wandered to the unbearable sweetheart dan asher today, all the nervous coughing, and i found out he's dead since april of leukemia. what a real heartbreak to hear it. an exceptional guy and i feel lucky to have known him even the slightest bit - it won't be tenth street or phosphorescent without him, sad-eyed anxious lunatic person. from what i could tell he lived the shit out of what time and circumstances he got, haunting athens, hacking and heckling fanatical, screaming back at rules he had to break and giving his whole heart -- more than most could carry, really -- to everything that moved his wide open baby soul. not that i really know a goddamned thing about it. but i thought dan asher was just wonderful. a miraculous pain in the ass. alive as anyone you ever saw. tan and beaming. fantastic.

sometime over this weekend, born to be nervous (though dead on the vine, let's be honest) attracted its 100,000th visitor and its 157,360th page view. as of this late april, i have been alive some 11,000 days and have presumably moved my bowels around twice as many times as that. 100,000 visits and 22,000 shits. what a life. thanks for stopping by. i love you.

our good old folk yeah buddy britt govea co-directs this screwy bonnie billy dream scene, ostensibly to help promote the grass roots re-imagining of graham nash's songs for beginners (more), out now and excellent.

somewhere in brooklyn this girl, after casting hands and aura glows since fifteen, setting undressed fantasy silent in meltaway grain.
