o.p.p. | stacie willoughby

from fader 53:

last spring i flew out to san francisco, met up with my old buddy joel and drove down the pacific coast highway to big sur for a few day freak out in the redwoods. it was the (((folk yeah))) spring festival and stacie willoughby made the poster. she was an extra celebrity that weekend because it seemed that she had made every poster in town. from the walls of the fernwood campground roadhouse to the shelves of the henry miller library, everything had her autograph on it. i bought a piece and made a big red mental note with exclamation points.

in the process of all that enthusing, joel and i met a tentful of friends: wendy, ellie, morgan and david torch. they were the nicest and when the weekend was over they had us over to their mission mansion for a potluck dinner with all their friends.

now, a year later... joel is putting the finishing touches on the screenplay for his grad school thesis film, the strange rebirth of andre weil. none of us have talked much since (at least across friend groups), but he's got me playing one of the leads opposite ellie, stacie willoughby is painting up a jeep psychedelic for scenes of religious ecstasy (they connected after my fader interview) and the (((folkyeah))) dj, dr. frederick phases, is doing all the music. as joel says, "it's weird what a confluence of factors from our trip to big sur are contributing to this thing... ellie, stacie, fred phases... it almost suggests that i haven't left my house either before or since."
